One of our major Telecommunication clients is looking for an Intermediate Database Administrator (Oracle 12c, PostgreSQL, MySQL)
Length: 6 months contract with a huge possibility of extension
Location: Vancouver, BC - Remote
Hours: 7.5 Hrs a day.


Work Environment: Hybrid Model - a blend of in-office and remote work from home. Candidates are required to have a suitable (private) work-from-home space with a reliable internet connection and the ability to occasionally work in-office.

Requirements:
DESCRIPTION:
Our Provider Solutions Operations team is looking for a highly motivated DBA to support and develop database solutions in our national portfolio. Join us and be part of the journey to provide better access to health information and enable better health outcomes for Canadians.

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES:
You will join a high performing team of DBAs on a diverse range of projects. Work on the team is customer focused with an on-call support component to ensure we deliver on our customer-first commitment. Responsibilities include database tuning, implementing and testing upgrades and patches, and defining backup and recovery strategies. You will develop documentation, provide technical support and resolve incidents and performance problems. By collaborating with other teams you will design and deliver quality, innovative solutions for our customers.

As part of our team, you will:
 Ensure availability and performance of production, staging and development databases
 Provide trend analysis to management team to enable informed decisions regarding capacity management
 Lead project initiatives to improve database functionality and design
 Migrate products from one database platform to another (ie Oracle to PostgreSQL)
 Collaborate with other teams (Development, Architecture, QA) to develop database systems for new products and advise on product updates

Qualifications:
QUALIFICATIONS:
 A team player with strong collaboration and communication skills
 Able to handle pressure and act quickly to deliver results
 Willing and able to learn new technologies on the fly
 Effective in investigating, analyzing and solving problems
 Skilled in managing/coordinating small projects

MUST HAVE SKILLS:
1. Oracle 12c (Windows Version) as most of our clinics are primarily on this platform
2. PostgreSQL, as the position will be working with our Oracle to PostgreSQL database conversion program
3. Good communicator; data migrations, planning and scheduling involve close collaboration and communication

NICE TO HAVE SKILLS:
1. MySQL to augment our support
2. Microsoft SQL Server to augment our support
3. Cloud native database experience (GCP, AWS), as we look to migrate databases to the cloud
